  • The Calmont via ferrata

    The Calmont via ferrata

Between Eller and Bremm, the Calmont via ferrata links several routes, from demanding passages to a gentler high-level path, so everyone finds their own pace. Winemakers still cultivate the steep slopes you cross along the way. If you just want to enjoy the view, you'll find car parks close to the summit cross, and on selected dates a refreshment stop opens there too.

  • Neefer Petersberg circular trail

    Neefer Petersberg circular trail

To walk this circular trail, park at the Moselle car park in Neef and begin by crossing the railway tracks between Bullay and Koblenz, heading uphill towards the Petersberg. From the summit cross, St. Aldegund, Neef, Bremm, the Bremm Calmont, Eller and Ediger all lie within view. The route continues to the Petersbergkapelle chapel and the Eulenköpfen viewpoint, before leading back through the vineyards to the Moselle at Neef.

  • Kreuzweg der Kulturen (Way of the Cross of Cultures)

Kreuzweg der Kulturen (Way of the Cross of Cultures)

This circular route starts at St. Martin's Church in the village of Ediger, from where it climbs to the Kreuzkapelle chapel with its wide view over the Calmont region. A barbecue area with play equipment lies right next door. The way back leads through the Pehrtal valley; alternatively, the trail can be extended over the hill as far as Cochem or Ellenz-Poltersdorf.

  • Ediger, Elzhofberg and the Roman tombs

Ediger, Elzhofberg and the Roman tombs

This tour starts right in Ediger: through the vine-covered slopes, it climbs to the Roman tower on the Elzhofberg and continues on to the Roman tombs at Nehren. You walk back along the Moselle bank, with options to stop for refreshments in Senhals, Nehren or Ediger-Eller.

  • Wilde Endert with its waterfall

    Wilde Endert with its waterfall

In 2019, the Wilde Endert was voted Germany's most beautiful hiking trail. Over roughly 20 kilometres, the route follows a small stream through an attractive valley, passing mills where you can stop for refreshments and the “Die Rausch” waterfall. It starts at the crusader castle above the Ulmener Maar, continuing past the Maria Martental pilgrimage church as far as Cochem.

A shorter version starts in the lower third of the route, either in Greimersburg or in Büchel.

  • Altlayer Schweiz

    Altlayer Schweiz

The Altlayer Schweiz is no gentle stroll, but manageable with some fitness. From Altlay, the path leads down into the valley, past a former mining site, and then climbs steeply back up again. The views and the scenery make up for the effort, though you should still bring sturdy shoes.

  • Briederner Schweiz

    Briederner Schweiz

From Briedern, a route of about 2 kilometres leads over a narrow, wooded ridge path across to Beilstein, the “Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle”. Information boards along the way tell of the building and cultural history, as well as the shipbuilding once carried out in Briedern.

If you keep your eyes open, you'll discover wild nature, rocky outcrops and ever-changing views over the Moselle's wine-growing landscape along the way.

  • The Geierlay suspension bridge

    The Geierlay suspension bridge

If you have a head for heights, the Geierlay suspension bridge offers a genuine adventure. Built on the model of Nepalese rope bridges, it's 360 metres long and 100 metres high, and was Germany's longest rope bridge until 2017. Car parks are available on both sides of the bridge.

  • The Eifel-Maare-Weg trail

If you drive from the Moselle towards France, you reach the volcanic landscape of the Eifel and its maars within half an hour.

The size of the individual maars varies considerably; some have places to stop for refreshments after your walk, and the Eifel-Maare-Weg trail is also suitable for cycling as well as walking.
